VAT in a designated zone
JAFZA is a VAT designated zone, which means certain supplies of goods within or between designated zones can be outside the scope of UAE VAT — but only if strict conditions are met. Goods sold to mainland customers, and services, are generally subject to VAT as normal. We check each type of transaction and keep the evidence the FTA expects.

JAFZA companies must register for Corporate Tax. To keep the 0% rate on qualifying income — such as certain trading in qualifying commodities, distribution from a designated zone or transactions with other free-zone persons — a company must meet the Qualifying Free Zone Person conditions, including audited financial statements. We separate qualifying and non-qualifying income in your books and prepare audit-ready accounts for your auditor.
How free-zone Corporate Tax works →Frequently asked questions
Do JAFZA companies pay VAT?
JAFZA companies register for VAT under the same threshold as any UAE business. Some supplies of goods within designated zones can be outside the scope of VAT if conditions are met, but sales to the mainland and most services are subject to VAT.
Do JAFZA companies pay Corporate Tax?
JAFZA companies are within UAE Corporate Tax. A Qualifying Free Zone Person pays 0% on qualifying income and 9% on other taxable income.
Do you audit JAFZA companies?
No. We are bookkeepers and accountants, not auditors. We prepare audit-ready books and work with your appointed auditor.
