Bookkeeping for IT and software companies

Software and IT businesses sell subscriptions, projects and support contracts to clients in the UAE and abroad, and buy cloud services from overseas. We record revenue when it's earned and get the VAT right on both sides.

Common challenges we fix

  • Annual subscriptions and contracts billed in advance
  • Overseas clients and unclear VAT treatment
  • Imported cloud and software subscriptions
  • No view of recurring revenue or project margins

What we handle for you

  • Subscription and support revenue spread over the service period
  • Project billing, milestones and work in progress
  • VAT on exports of services checked against the conditions
  • Reverse charge on imported software and cloud services
  • Monthly recurring revenue and churn reporting
  • Payroll, WPS and contractor payments

Frequently asked questions

Do we charge VAT to clients outside the UAE?

Services supplied to overseas clients can often be zero-rated, but only when the conditions are met, for example the client is outside the UAE and not benefiting from the service here. We check each client relationship.

Why do we pay VAT on our AWS or software bills?

Services imported from overseas suppliers are subject to the reverse charge. You account for the VAT in your return and, if you make taxable sales, usually recover it in the same return.
