Bookkeeping for law firms and legal consultants
Law firms handle client money, retainers, disbursements and partner payments, often for clients in several countries. We keep client funds separate, bill the right VAT and give partners a clear view of fees earned and collected.
Common challenges we fix
- Client money mixed with the firm's own funds
- Disbursements paid for clients but not recharged
- Retainers received before work is done
- Unclear VAT on overseas clients
What we handle for you
- Client money tracked separately from firm income
- Disbursements recorded and recharged correctly
- Retainers held until earned
- VAT treatment checked for UAE and overseas clients
- Fees billed, collected and outstanding by partner or practice area
- Partner drawings and profit share
Frequently asked questions
Is money held for clients our income?
No. Money you hold on behalf of clients belongs to them and is recorded as a liability until it is paid out or applied to your fees.
Do we charge VAT to foreign clients?
Legal services to clients outside the UAE can often be zero-rated, but not always, for example when the service relates to UAE property. We check each matter.
